West School
The Council consists of the school principal, four parents elected by parents, three teachers elected by teachers and a community representative who is appointed and who does not have a child currently enrolled at the school. The Council assists the principal in:
- Adopting educational goals for the school that are consistent with local educational policies and state-wide student performance standards.
- Identifying the educational needs of students attending the school.
- Receiving the school building budget.
- Developing the school improvement plan for submittal to the School Committee
In order to promote continuity, elected positions are filled on a rotating basis; and to achieve a balance between the number of new and experienced members, we ask that potential candidates be available to serve for two years. Elections are held in September. Monthly meetings are held at 4 PM in the IMC.
