In-School Based Programs
- Instrumental Music Lessons -
Offered to students in grades four and five, lessons are given in school
for a nominal fee. Instruments include various brass and wind instruments.
Students taking lessons become part of the West School Band. In addition,
all students in grades four & five are required to learn the recorder
with lessons given by the music teacher.
Volunteers and the Home School Association provide the following enrichment
programs for students:
- Cultural Arts -
Special programs are brought to the school for students throughout the
year. Programs range from theater, dance and storytelling to historical
reenactments and science programs. All are intended to enrich and educate.
- Enrichment Day -
Established in 1988 by a West
School parent and
held on a Saturday in the spring, this event is unique to West and
provides the students with a hal-day of Wondering, Searching and Thinking
through a number of workshops.
