It lives in bays and along beaches. Lives up to 300 ft. out, usually in 12 feet of water or less.  Lives in a range from Oregon to Mexico, including the Gulf of California. The Leopard Shark is a predator and reduces the population of bottom dwellers. The leopard shark considered a consumer in its ecosystem as it eats.
