• This shark is not dangerous to people, it will only bite if it is bothered

• This shark is also called the cat shark

• This shark was first caught by commercial and sport fishermen and by divers spear fishing.

• Leopard shark remains have been found in Native American middens.    

• Fossil of leopard sharks have been found in deposits over one million years old in Southern California.

• A large population of leopards live at Big Fisherman's Cove, Catalina Island all year round and allow snorkelers/waders to get very close to them.

• This shark feeds on benthic prey which means bottom dwelling

•   It has sharp teeth which it uses to capture its prey

• This shark is ovoviviparous, which means that its eggs have hatched inside her body and it gives birth to live young.
