WEATHER MANIA
When Adelphia of Massachusetts Cable in
the Classroom Coordinator Philip Tsouros attended the opening
of a new weather center at Plymouth Community Intermediate
School in Plymouth, Massachusetts., last month, he didn’t
show up empty-handed. He brought along a new color TV and a
special guest -- The Weather Channel meteorologist Dennis
Smith, who donated a set of The Weather Classroom
videotapes on behalf of the cable network. Adelphia has worked
closely with the school’s eight-grade teacher Mr. Perry and
his students for several years. Students produce a weekly
weather show, which airs on Adelphia’s local-access channel.
The cable company also donate the equipment for the school’s
TV production studio and has provided technical assistance to
the students. "It was great for Adelphia to arrange for Dennis
Smith to visit the school," says Perry. "We
often watch The Weather Channel programs in the classroom. For
my kids, it was like getting to meet a sports figure."
